Benjamin Hosking is an Australian-Canadian-American writer-director based in Los Angeles. His narrative films explore themes of mental health, sexuality, and emotional vulnerability. Using a humanistic approach, he works across genres ranging from psychological thrillers to coming-of-age dramas.
His feature-length documentary about nerd culture in South Central LA, “Straight Outta Mordor,” is now in pre-production. Based on the hit short film South Central Warhammer, it will film in Spring/Summer 2026.
Benjamin earned his MFA in directing from the AFI Conservatory in 2022. He was a 2019 recipient of Tufts University’s P.T. Barnum Young Alum in Entertainment Award.
His AFI thesis film and LA Weekly Must-See “And I Miss You Like a Little Kid” shines a light on isolation and domestic abuse during COVID. The film premiered at Dances With Films in 2022.
